    Great Neighborhood's Walk Score

One of the best things about New York City is being able to walk everywhere. All you car-centric folk might cringe at this but in reality its one of the best things about this town. Walking does a number of things beyond benefiting your internal health from reducing greenhouse gases, to opening up transportation, to infusing capital in the local economy. Walk Score is a fantastic little tool that maps all the site-seeable things in your hood. This mapping hybrid puts everything from coffee shops to cleaners on the map, and lets you know exactly how far they are from your home. Instantly you acn judge how walkable your home is. This is a great tool for all you home-hunting folks who like to talk evening walks.

Eco is definitely a continuing global trend, but as larger trends of transparency and social responsibility that umbrella it continue to it grow, look for more ways to connect to your earth in a green and friendly manner.

I believe that walk score is cool, but nowadays more and more people prefer to drive cars. Homes are often located in an area where some establishments are easier to get to by car than on foot. I've recently found a type of service on http://drivescore.fizber.com which is called Drive Score. It shows a map of what establishments are in your neighborhood and calculates a Drive Score based on the number of places within a convenient driving distance. It doesn’t mean that drive score is better than walk score – they are equal and both necessary in the modern world!

Thanks for the comment Dasha. Im not sure if i agree that people prefer to drive, as walking is cheaper, healthier and better for the environment. The purpose of the site is to encourage walking by showing walking-accessible locales nearby. Drive Score sounds like another great mapping tool that helps the world that much of a smaller place. Driving is a luxury not a necessity, and it must be considered that as our planet becomes more populated and polluted.
